The Wardrobe Staples I Buy Every Spring

comments
I live for the seasonal trends that crop up every year, but at the end of the day, I always try to stay true to the classics. You probably notice that I have plenty of wardrobe staples that transcend the fleeting trends. However, I think it’s so important to keep them updated with every new year or season that rolls around. This ensures that your outfits won’t ever look stale – plus, it gives you options to rotate through. If you’re not sure which pieces to freshen up and which ones to skip, I’m sharing the staples that are on my spring shopping list.
Abercrombie Linen Top (similar here) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 24) | Bottega Veneta Bag (in Mist color) | Alexandre Birman White Heels | Baublebar Initial Necklace | Janessa Leone Hat (similar here and here)
Dressy Tops
Dressy tops are more of trend-driven piece; however, they’re such a big part of my wardrobe during the warmer months that I consider them a staple. I tend to gravitate towards white tops because they’re the most versatile and can be worn anywhere for any occasion.
Balmain Tweed Blazer (sold out, similar here, here, and here) | Nordstrom Tank | Daze Denim (wearing a 24 – under $100!) | Fendi Sunglasses | Bottega Veneta Bag | Christian Louboutin Heels
Basic Tees & Bodysuits
It’s probably obvious that my warm weather wardrobe primarily consists of basic tees and bodysuits. I actually wear them so frequently that they can start to look run down by the end of the season. You can expect that I’ll be grabbing several new styles from henley bodysuits to shoulder-slit tees and more.
Free Assembly Puff Sleeve Cardigan | Free Assembly High-Rise Skinny Jeans | No Boundaries Messenger Bag | Time & Tru Platform Sneakers
Spring Knits
Spring isn’t the time to put up the sweaters just yet, but you’ll be better off replacing your chunky winter knits with lightweight options. I’ve been talking so much about cardigans and sweater sets because they’re the comfiest and easiest things to wear. They look amazing whether you’re donning jeans, skirts, or lounge pants!
Weekend Stories Maxi Cardigan | Superdown Lace Bodysuit | Mother Jeans (also love this one) | Revolve Tan Suede Booties (sold out, similar here) | Saint Laurent Shearling Handbag | The Styled Collection Chain Necklace | Amazon Coin Pendant Necklace
Denim
Denim is a year-round staple, but I always look for fresh washes, cuts and distressing that feel relevant for the warmer weather. Right now, I’m obsessed with anything high-waisted and loose with shredded knees or a frayed hem.
Burberry Trench Coat (wearing a 0 – better for budget here) | Balmain Tee (wearing an XS) | Daze Denim (wearing a 24 – under $100!) |
Fendi Sunglasses | Schutz Heels (on sale now!) | Givenchy Antigona Bag
Lightweight Jackets
Spring just wouldn’t be spring without those essential lightweight jackets. It’s no secret that Minnesota stays pretty cold through spring, so I hoard a variety of jackets, including blazers, trench coats, utility jackets, and shirt jackets. I can always count on these pieces to give me unlimited styling options.
Free People Black Dress (on sale now & under $50! Wearing a 0) | Similar Schutz Lace-Up Heels | Celine Sunglasses (similar here, budget version here) | Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Tote
Dresses
The weather may not be warming up for the next few weeks, but I’ve already started shopping for dresses because I like to be prepared for those spontaneous warm days. I tend to go after pieces that can be worn everyday but also work for a summer vacation.
Revolve White Pants (wearing an XS) | Amazon Nude Bodysuit | Castañer Wedges (better for budget here) | Dior Padlock Necklace (similar here) | Bottega Veneta The Pouch (in Mist color) | Janessa Leone Hat (similar here and here)
Trousers
Pants are having a big moment this spring, especially relaxed, wide leg styles. Every girl needs a pair in her wardrobe because they’re classy yet forgiving! I also love how they add a ton of length.
Free Assembly White Blazer | Free Assembly High-Rise Skinny Jeans | Time & Tru Mule Loafers | No Boundaries Belt Bag
Shoes
Finally, one of the highlights of spring fashion for me is always shoes! I have so many cute slides and lace-up heels that I can’t wait to wear. While it’s still cold out, I’ll be investing in some transitional styles too. Think mule loafers, sneakers, and espadrilles.
