I always think of the long holiday weekend as the last opportunity to break out all my favorite summer trends – or to mix in new pieces I’m most excited about from fall. I also love the idea of mixing the two aesthetics for a chic transitional spin. No matter what your preference is, I thought I’d share some Labor Day outfit ideas that will help you celebrate in style whether you’re headed to the beach, a backyard BBQ, or plan to spend a day relaxing at the park.

White Dress, Flats & Fedora

Little white dresses are the epitome of summer style. They also tend to be harder to pull off after Labor Day when fall fashion is in full swing – especially those with eyelet details, off-the-shoulder necklines and feminine ruffles. That’s why Labor Day is a good time to bring out your LWD. To add a more fall-forward twist, consider adding ballet flats to your look.

Cutout Top & Tie-Waist Pants

The cutout trend will certainly carry over into fall sweaters. So if you have any bodysuits, blouses or tank tops with splices and slits now, they’ll feel particularly fresh. Just combine them with tie-waist pants for the ultimate Labor Day outfit.

Shorts & Gladiator Sandals

If your Labor Day plans involve being outdoors, you’ll want to stay comfy and cool with basics. I love the idea of breezy shorts and a tank top. You can easily take things up a notch by adding gladiator sandals.

Graphic Tee, Denim Shorts & Blazer

Classic American holidays are some of the best times to wear some trusty denim shorts and a graphic tee. This combo works for any daytime celebration- and can easily be dressed up with heels and a blazer if you decide to grab drinks at night.

Linen Pants & Ribbed Tank

The heat is generally high around Labor Day weekend, so I don’t blame you if you want to stick to summer classics. For me, that’s none other than some linen pants and a ribbed knit tank top. This duo looks equally chic with flats or heels.

Cardigan Set, Denim & Sneakers

There’s no better way to end summer than with a casual outfit that defined the season – a cardigan set and white denim. You can wear this look if your plans revolve around a casual get-together or touring a new city.

Vest & Strappy Sandals

If you can’t wait to wear your favorite fall trends, then the vest is your best bet. Whether that’s a tailored vest or a knit iteration, you can style it with jeans or shorts for a relaxed, off-duty look.
