My Fall Wedding Season Must-Haves

Fall wedding season is about to kick off! I’m expecting it to be one of the busiest times of the year from all the postponed weddings meshed with the newly planned celebrations. You’ll definitely want to be armed with festive pieces to wear to every occasion. Unlike spring and summer, fall weddings require strategic planning. September is usually still quite warm, so you can get away with floral dresses and shorter hemlines. Come October and November though, you’ll want to transition to autumnal hues, midi/maxi lengths and bold accessories. Below, I thought I’d break down some of the key pieces you’ll need to look your best.
Zimmermann Silk Wrap Mini Dress (wearing a size 0) | Gianvito Rossi Pumps (size up by 1/2) | Saint Laurent Envelope Bag (large size) | Gucci Sunglasses
Jewel Tone Dress
Different types of weddings may require a different dress code, but no matter where you’re headed, a jewel-toned dress will never fail you. Burgundy, maroon and emerald are all colors that I can’t wait to wear. This Zimmermann dress is the perfect example. I love that I’ll be able to transition it to holiday parties later in the year.
Similar Camel Coat | Similar Slip Dress | Alexandre Birman Heels (better for budget here) | Amazon Sunglasses | Bottega Veneta The Pouch Bag
Neutral Dress
Since cocktail and black tie dresses are pricier, you might want to go with a neutral dress to maximize your dollars and stretch your wardrobe. I find that neutral wedding guest dresses can often be taken on vacations anytime throughout the year. This one here is perfect for early fall!
Michael Costello Velvet Dress (exact style sold out, similar here) | Crystal Fringe Earrings | Gucci Marmont Velvet Bag
Fall Textures
Late October and November weddings are the ideal time to bring out a velvet or satin dress. They always look so rich and regal – just fitting for the chilly season. I always love amping things up with blingy earrings and plush accessories like a velvet bag.
Similar Floral Dress (also love this one) | Cult Gaia Mini Ark Bag (better for budget here)
Accessories
Once you’ve nailed down the right dress, you can keep your accessories to a minimum and still make an entrance. However, if you want to add some finishing touches, consider a fancy, chain-strap face mask, faux pearl accessories, or drop earrings. That’s really all you need to look complete.
Karen Millen Trench Coat | Manolo Blahnik Heels (better for budget here) | Gucci Horsebit 1955 Mini Bag | Bottega Veneta Sunglasses
Shoes
If you have multiple weddings to tend to this fall, you’ll want a good pair of shoes will look great with various looks. For me, that’s none other than my Alexandre Birman’s. They’re pricey but go so well with everything. You can also find some great budget-friendly (and comfy) heels from Schutz, Steve Madden, and Sam Edelman.
