We all know and love the skinny jean – but the season brings an array of cuts that rival the classic silhouette. For instance, low-rise, floor grazing jeans, playful hues and 70’s inspired fits. Denim can be tricky though, so whenever I find my ideal fit, I rarely stray from it. But after test driving some of the newer trends, I have to admit that it’s refreshing to wear something different. If you haven’t tried anything outside the box, consider summer your sign to make the switch. Ahead, I’ll be charting some of my favorite ones that are rising to must-have status.

Loose 90’s Jeans
So many throwback styles are emerging on the fashion scene. One to truly embrace is 90’s-inspired loose, slouchy designs with super high-rise fits. Fashion girls are loving full-length inseams that puddle at the hem. However, I generally choose to cuff mine and style with a pair of heels. As for what to wear them with, a crop top or fitted blouse helps balance out the baggy bottom.

Flared Denim
I never thought I’d see myself wearing flared jeans again but I’m actually loving vintage silhouette. It’s obvious by now that I love cropped denim – it just looks so much more flattering on my petite frame. Not only that but cropped jeans are the best way to show off cute summer sandals. To put a modern spin on these pants, a blazer and bodysuit mashup will do the trick.

Straight Leg Jeans
Straight leg jeans are a staple in every woman’s closet – and it’s the silhouette that I always turn to when I don’t know what to wear. Even as my style has evolved and trends have changed, I can always rely on this trusty fit to make me feel good. The best thing about them is that they look good with any top style from basics to camisoles to blouses.

Criss-Cross Waist Jeans
We can all thank Agolde for the rise of criss cross waist jeans. There are so many high-street versions available, which allow you to get the look for much less. The purpose of this denim style is to highlight the unique waist, so be sure to wear a top that you can easily tuck in, such as a basic bodysuit.

Long Inseam Shorts
Longer-length denim shorts are another trend that’s proving to be popular this summer. My rule of thumb to pulling them off is to stick to a length that cuts above the knee. The end result is much more effortless and caters well to a myriad of style aesthetics. I love how they look with statement heels and polished separates.
