Lucky for us, there are a few summer trends that’ll work overtime in your wardrobe and carry you well through fall. The trick is to find new ways to style them for the cooler weather. For instance, adding a chunky knit to a pleated skirt or trading strappy heels for boots. With that said, if you’re in the mood to continue shopping for summer, I’ve curated 8 of my favorite summer trends below that will serve you well now and for the remainder of the year. If you already have these pieces in your wardrobe, then I’ll also be dropping some of my seasonal style hacks below.

1. Pleated Skirt

We’ve seen the resurgence of pleated skirts everywhere – and they’re trending in various lengths and designs. To get the most of out of this summer trend, I recommend shopping for neutral-colored, mid-length piece. I styled mine above with a logo bra top for a sporty twist but will be adding chunky knits in the next few months.

2. Cutout Tops & Baggy Jeans

I’m sure you have some variation of a cutout top and baggy jean combination in your wardrobe. The good news is both pieces will remain relevant throughout fall and winter. You’ll just want to add an oversized blazer or biker jacket when it’s time to make the seasonal switch.

3. Unitards

One of the summer trends I’ve been loving is the unitard. The all-in-one design is fashionable and functional, making for endless ways to style it. For early fall, it’ll become one of your go-to layering pieces – just style it with an oversized shacket or an aviator outerwear piece to get that cool-girl effect. Everything else can stay the same.

4. Miniskirts

If you love a leggy look, then I’m sure you’ve already caved into the miniskirt trend. Although this piece feels like it was made for the hot summer months, it will come in handy for fall and winter when you’re in need of cute date night and going-out looks. Tall boots will ensure you get the most mileage (and coverage) from the thigh-grazing silhouette.

5. White Trousers

White trousers will never go out of style but I think we can all agree that it’s the garment fashion girls just couldn’t get enough of this year. Take advantage of what’s left of summer and wear yours with crop tops, corsets and statement blouses. Then, swap out those warm weather styles for sweaters and plaid blazers later.

6. Leather Bottoms

A look back at the FW22 runways signals that leather will be one of fall’s top trends. So if you love edgy fashion as much as I do, then chances are you probably purchased a few leather shorts or skirts this summer. You’ll be able to keep those items on repeat for the remainder of the year – just add patterned tights as temperatures drop.

7. Tweed

Tweed was a burgeoning trend as we started off the year – and by summer, tweed jackets were everywhere from cropped styles to classic blazers. The momentum will only get stronger as we head into fall. Fortunately, no effort is needed to make that transition. Just throw your jacket on top of a pair of jeans or leather pants. You might even consider adding a tweed skirt or handbag to your arsenal.

8. Oversized Blazers

Relaxed, oversized blazers have undoubtedly been a staple for the fashion set. They’re the perfect lightweight layering piece for any situation. There’s no end to the styling possibilities this fall, but I’ll be wearing mine with turtleneck tops, leather leggings, and sweater dresses. Boots and scarves will only add to the look.
