If you’re on the petite side like I am, you know the never ending struggle of finding clothes that fit just right. It typically translates into a constant cycle of scouring the web for petite silhouettes, endless trips to the tailor, and so forth. This inconvenience naturally carries over into swimwear, which is a key style to shop for around this time of the year. Most bathing suits aren’t designed with the petite girl in mind so it can be a struggle to find the right fit. With years of petite shopping under my belt and many swimwear purchases later, I narrowed down 5 styles that work to accentuate and flatter the body, even if you’re smaller. Whether you have a vacation on the books or just want to get ahead of the curve, take notes on these petite swimwear styles.

Belted
Belted swimwear styles have a flattering effect on us petite girls. An added belt draws attention to the smallest part of your waist. There are a variety of options available in both two-piece sets and one-pieces. Regardless of your preference, the addition of the belt manages to add a luxe aesthetic to your beach-ready outfit.

High-Waisted
Hands down, high-waisted bikinis are my favorite because they’re perhaps the most flattering on petite body types. The higher cut manages to elongate the legs and accentuate your curves at the same time. Plus, it provides more security and support for the ultimate streamlined look.

Cut Out One-Pieces
If you are a fan of the one-piece bathing suit, consider shopping styles with added cut out detailing. A peek-a-boo torso swimsuit does wonders for lengthening the body. But intricate slices on the side are just as effective at making you appear taller.

Underwire Tops
Taking a page from the lingerie book, underwire bikini tops are ideal for supplying extra support in the bust. Plus, they tend to elevate even the most basic of swimwear styles. A minimal black suit looks incredibly polished with an underwire top compared to one without.

String Bikini
When in doubt, you can always fall back on the basics. String bikinis are not only flirty and fun but the fact that you can adjust the drawstrings on both the top and bottom is a complete game changer. This means smaller framed girls can adjust their two-piece to fit like a glove – no alterations required.
