How to Style Patent Leather Leggings

It’s that time of the year to break out your favorite faux leather leggings. They’re the perfect alternative to yoga pants and denim if you love that edgy chic look. You guys know I swear by my Spanx and Commando leather leggings and have shared countless ways to wear them (HERE and HERE). However, you should also consider adding patent leather leggings to your stash. They can be intimidating to wear, but when you finally get around to trying them, you’ll get addicted. I love that they’re comfy, flattering, and warm – always taking an outfit to the next level. If you have any issues with squeaking, just add some vaseline between your thighs and you’re set. Ahead, I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to weave them into your fall looks.

1. Blazer Coat & Combat Boots
Patent leather leggings have a certain cool-girl edge to them. I love playing on that vibe by pairing them with combat boots. To bring back a sophisticated touch that gets you date night ready, add a blazer coat in a plaid or tweed texture.

2. Oversized Button Down Shirt
Patent leather leggings are super tight and slimming. Take advantage of the opportunity to toy with proportion by throwing on an oversized button down shirt and sleek pumps. It’s so simple yet so chic.

3. Plaid Blazer & Graphic Tee
Leggings tend to feel like athleisure, but you can easily tame that look with a plaid blazer, vintage band tee, and heels. This is a combination I’d wear for a night out or casual dinner date.

4. Neutral Sweater & Matching Booties
The high-shine effect of patent leather leggings presents a great time to add other textural elements too. A chunky knit sweater or fuzzy texture tones down the sleek leather finish. Complete the outfit with booties in a color that matches your sweater.

5. Biker Jacket, Graphic Sweatshirt & Sneakers
You can definitely rock patent leather leggings as an off-duty, street wear look. When I’m traveling or running out for coffee, I’ll pair them with high-top sneakers, a graphic sweatshirt and biker jacket. The result is a casual athleisure fit taken up a notch.

A foolproof outfit any girl can pull off is patent leather leggings with the ever-trending shacket and lug sole boots. It’s a fun statement look that you can wear to the mountains or while visiting a new city.
